Demonstrate proficiency in coursework based on individual goals for professional growth and development

I began my PhD coursework in the Spring of 2016 and successfully completed the required course work in the Spring of 2019.  The following professional and development goals were chosen as a compliment and continued growth of my Master's of Psychology degree.  In particular these goals point to an interdisciplinary study of systems and academic disciplines which influence the field of human development across the life span.

Goal 1:  Demonstrate academic aptitude pertaining to the require coursework with an emphasis on human development across the lifespan and research methods.

During my three years as a Educational Psychology student, my coursework emphasized the study of human development across the life span.  By focusing on the study of human development from a lifespan perspective, I gained valuable knowledge as to how governments, society, cultures, families, and parents shape the cognitive, emotional, environmental and social schema of the individual.  The implication of studying a lifespan perspective afforded me a greater awareness of the historical and systemic roots of the multidisciplinary relationships among educational psychology, education, and other behavior sciences as well as analysis of modern learning theories and practices as they relate to education.  The lifespan perspective coursework is a valuable contributor to my specific research interest in the field of moral and pro social development and a area of ample research opportunity.  Artifact one provides evidence of the completed coursework relating to research methods and human development across the life span (Artifact # 1 Ph.D. Course Transcript).

Goal 2:  Demonstrate professional growth and development as it relates to the philosophical foundations of education and policy.

During my three years as a Educational Psychology student, my cognate courses expanded my understanding of the relationship between policy and educational trends.  The interplay among societal issues, policy, child development theories, and research afforded me a foundation for conceptualizing the role policy and social issues have on educational outcomes.  By studying the relationship between policy and educational trends I was able to analyse how research can be applied to contemporary educational challenges.  Additionally, the study of  how state and federal governments, education systems, as well as stakeholders maintain the homeostasis of class and race in America reinforced the important role education and technology play in contributing to a free market of  thinkers and ideas through an interdisciplinary pedagogy approach.  The attached artifact provides evidence of my academic aptitude relating to the cognate course work (Artifact #2 Cognate Course).  The attached literature review, written during my Cognate Courses, provided a multifaceted understanding of the influence unions have on government, educational policy, stakeholders, and the shaping of our public education system (Artifact #3 Unions and the Education System)
