Demonstrate experience using research methodologies
Goal: Enhance research skills: Produce original research projects that demonstrated an aptitude for research methodologies in both qualitative and quantitative designs.

The following artifacts provide evidence of research methodologies in quantitative and qualitative research designs. The research projects represent exploratory research proposals which includes project descriptions, research questions, data collection methods, data analysis, findings, and discussion.

Qualitative Research Proposal
Artifact one provides evidence of the use of qualitative research methodologies. These research methodologies include semi-structured interviews, field notes, artifacts, and observations. The qualitative data was analyzed using the open coding method. The proposed research project is titled, “Prosocial Behavior Development: The Transmission of Values & Beliefs," (Artifact #1: Qualitative Research Proposal).

Quantitative Research Proposal
Artifact two provides evidence of a quantitative research proposal outlining methodologies (i.e data gathering protocols, instrumentation utility, and data analysis). The research proposal is an exploratory correlation study. Using various moral identity instruments, demographic surveys, and school records, the proposed research attempts to describe phenomenon related to moral identity and secondary academic achievement. As part of the project, research analysis using a multiple regression examination would be performed to determine if a relationship exists between one continuous dependent and two or more independent variables. The proposed research project is titled, "Moral Identity and Educational Attainment," (Artifact #2: Quantitative Research Project).

Artifact three provides evidence of an original Academic Project Poster Presentation. This project involved using original data, posing a quantitative research question related to the data, describing the statistical methods used, and presenting the results of the data analysis using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The poster presentation is titled, " Effects of depression, anxiety and substance use on grade point average attainment for secondary education students." (Artifact #3: External Project Poster).

The practical application methodologies for comprehensive and sound qualitative and quantitative research projects have prepared me to successfully complete my Doctoral dissertation.
